Want to go abroad? Follow these steps:

STEP 1: Complete an Interest Profile


Tell us what you're interested in by completing our brief

Receive updates targeted to YOUR interests!
Complete before moving on to Step 2.

STEP 2: Attend a "Getting Started" Workshop


Sign up for a Getting Started workshop to learn about program options and how to search for a program. Review Choosing a Program (PDF) to help you define the kind of experience(s) you are seeking. Review our Program Options (PDF) for a brief description of the options available to you.

STEP 3: Research Your Options

A. Learn program details by using the links on the left under Program Options and our Program Comparison Worksheet.
B. Attend an information session and do your research on-line.
C. Talk to returned students from our Returnee List, read student testimonials, and join us on Facebook for photos, blogs, and updates!
D. Individual Advising (Optional). Questions? Come to the Study Abroad Center for help!

STEP 4: Have a Valid Passport
  • A passport that is valid for at least 6 months after the end of your program is required for ALL study abroad participants.
  • If you do not have a valid passport, apply for one or renew it TODAY! It will take 4-6 weeks to receive and will last for 10 years, so you may as well do it NOW! UCI Passport Office.
  • Some programs require proof of your valid passport by the application deadline. Contact your program immediately if you cannot get one in time.
