On-Campus Leadership - Share what you learned abroad with fellow UCI students
Develop your leadership skills, share international and global insights and knowledge with fellow UCI students while earning money, academic credit and/or developing professional skills.  Apply for the following on-campus positions during spring or summer.

  • International Peer Group Mentor - Assist new degree-seeking international students in making a smooth transition to life at UCI.  Paid position.  Apply by April 4, 5:00pm. 
  • Study Abroad Center Peer Advisor – Help UCI students study abroad.  Share your wisdom, tips and experience.  Details of the position are on the web.  Paid position. Application will be available in June.
  • Student Support Services Peer Educator – Assist SSS students to succeed and thrive, socially and academically.  Apply by April 4, 5:00pm.
  • Transfer Student Center Peer Educator – Assist the TSC office to provide a welcoming environment and assist transfer students with their transition to UCI.   Apply by April 4, 5:00pm.
  • R.E.A.C.H. Facilitator – Help promote multicultural understanding that is important for community harmony.  Apply in mid-spring quarter.
  • UTeach – Share what you learned abroad by teaching your own seminar to fellow UCI students.  Apply by May 16. 
  • Global Connect Internship – Teach global issues to middle school and high school students in Orange County and earn units.  Apply by May 16.

Global Leadership Certificate Program (GLCP)
Discover what it means to be a leader in a global context.  Get involved at UCI and abroad. Develop leadership skills and put them into action!  This certificate program can help set you apart as you transition from undergrad to the professional world.  For more information check us out on the web link above or attend one of the below events:

UCI Extension TEFL Certificate Teach English Abroad. 
What are you doing this summer?  Program starts June 20.
Teaching English abroad is a great way start a new career and gain global experience. Your adventures abroad continue when you complete UCI Extension’s 10-week summer intensive program. Valuable benefits include the opportunity to interact with visiting international students, job referral assistance, and post-program staff support. Money/Job Experience for Your International Experience

UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed ScholarshipApply by April 3, 2014.
This scholarship supports exceptional students who are committed to advancing the values of compassion, contemplation, courage, interconnectedness, collaboration, humility and service who want to design and launch ambitious "compassion-in-action" projects aimed at engaging campus and/or community members. The UCI XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship awards one student up to $10,000 for their 2014-2015 fees as well as a grant of up to $10,000 from the Dalai Lama Fellows to support the project costs.

UCEAP Research Award $1000Apply by May 3, 2014
These awards recognize undergraduate students who have distinguished themselves through their excellence in research conducted while abroad on a UCEAP program.To be eligible you must complete a final paper on your research by the end of spring quarter 2014.  More details at the link above.

Internships in Washington D.C. (UCDC) or Sacramento (UCCS)
You've gained valuable experience and transferable skills abroad - now use those skills while gaining hands-on work experience interning in a globally-focused internship.  Internships are available in virtually any field, including internship sites such as Amnesty International, Interpol, Center for International Policy, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Citizens for Global Solutions, US State Department, and many more! Come to an Information Session to learn more:

English Conversation Program Facilitator - Enroll for Spring quarter now!
Mondays 4:00pm or Tuesdays 2:00pm or Thursdays 4:00pm.
Meet students from around the world -- further your cultural insight, build relationships, and recognize the value of our diverse campus community! Serve as an English Facilitator and assist international students with building their conversational English skills! Each week, you will participate in one-on-pairings, group activities and more! Volunteer or earn academic credit (1.3 units). For more information and how to sign up, email programs@ic.uci.edu.

International Coffee Hour
Fridays, 12-1 p.m., Counseling Center, Student Services I
Co-hosted by the International Center and the Counseling Center, this is an opportunity to share culture and friendship in a casual environment.  Topics of conversation are as diverse as the people who meet each week.

The special discount price for UCI Students is $28. Order by May 9 at the Study Abroad Center in 1100 Student Services II.  We can only accept exact cash or checks. You can check out the sashes here but be sure to order through the Study Abroad Center in order to receive the discount price. 

Share Your Experience Abroad with Others
Are you tired of talking about your time abroad with friends and family and seeing their eyes glaze over? Below are some ways for you to get a captive audience and share about your experiences with people who want to hear it.

  • Join Us On Facebook  Show UCI students what YOU did abroad! Post your photos, videos, blogs, stories, and more on the Anteaters Abroad page on Facebook. This is an easy way to promote study abroad at UCI and could quite possibly inspire someone else to take their journey!
