Information for Returnees

Have you recently returned from abroad and are interested in meeting international students from all over the world?

The Study Abroad Center is offering UCI students the opportunity to serve as a mentor to an international student who will be coming to study abroad at UCI in Winter 2018.

Participating in the program will give you the chance to meet and become friends with an international student. This is a great opportunity to help an international student integrate into life at UCI and feel part of the campus community! As a mentor, you will also serve as an invaluable source of information for new international students who have questions and concerns.

How does the program work?

  • Attend our meeting/social event at 5 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Student Services II, Room 1010. This is where you will have the chance to meet and mingle with international students who have just arrived at UCI, and who want to be your Exchange Partner!
  • Once you have found a partner, you will both agree where, when and how often you want to meet and your level of involvement with one another. At the minimum, you could give him/her a tour of the campus, explain how things work on campus and be available to answer any questions. You are not expected to know all the answers but can help the student to find out and can make him/her feel welcome and know that there’s a friendly face on campus.

Thank you for your interest in the program and please feel free to contact the Study Abroad Center if you have any questions at:
